KNIGHTS

The Knights of Vanguard are our most elite fighters, embodying the ideals and virtues of the White Hart

Lord Frederick II

the Vicious

A dominant presence on the tournament field and best swordsman in the North, Sir Frederick II fights with malice and primal ferocity.

He leads with an inspiring presence on the fields of Lewes and Evesham, commanding a baronial flank.

Sir Frederick II was the first knight to have careered from lowly squire to the ascendant rank of a landed knight.

Sir Jasper

the Scholar

Sir Jasper is an accomplished duellist who uses the manuals of master swordsmen to guide his longsword to victory.

Sir Jasper is also as comfortable in the workshop as he is in the field, crafting and maintaining Vanguard's entire armoury.

Lord William

the Unbroken

The original Lord of Vanguard and since retired from the fields of the tourney, Sir William was never bested in single combat.

He is the only knight to maintain an unbroken tournament record.

His final duel was on the fields of Corbridge where he toppled the vicious Sir Frederick II.

Lord Thomas

the Valiant

Sir Thomas is an avid tourneyer who seeks victory through feats of arms, bravado and chivalry, also boasting the latest in arms and armour.

In the stead of Lord Frederick II, Lord Thomas commanded the baronial left flank at the battles of Lewes and Evesham.

Sir Matthew

the Relentless

Sir Matthew - a dog of war. Always ready to go, always ready to fight. His fury for the tournament keeps him standing long after most would fall.

Always on the aggressive, even his shield has been strapped for powerful punching - when he feels like using one.

Lord Frederick

the Formidable

A retired but seasoned veteran and founding member, Sir Frederick was the Lord of Vanguard and has decades of battle and tournament experience under his belt.

None have been so critical to Vanguard as this noble veteran. It is even said that Vanguard itself is his third son.

Beware an old man in a profession where men die young.

Sir Duncan

the Merciless

Fighting with his unique choice of dual swords, Sir Duncan grants no mercy to those who fall to his twin blades.

He favours his homegrounds of Durham Castle to host his tournaments and batter his foes.

Sir Samuel

the Just

Sir Samuel the Just, a noble swordsman epitomised.

Few so truly uphold the knightly virtues of chivalry - Sir Samuel leads his household with distinction, valour and a really long sword.

Sir Henry

the Marshal

Sir Henry earned his nickname 'the Butcher' from a series of tournament melees and was knighted for his ruthlessness against the enemy at the Battle of Lewes.

In the stead of a ruling Lord, Sir Henry acts as stalwart Marshal to Vanguard and her troops.

When not taking the field himself, Sir Henry is the herald of the tournament.

Sir John

the Phoenix

The Phoenix knight is infamous for his ability to rise from the clutches of sure defeat, toppling mighty knights with his signature mace.

Sir John currently finds himself crusading on foreign shores, protecting the homeland.

THE RETINUE

Vanguard's retinue is composed of armoured serjeants as our professional troops and soft-padded, inexperienced levies as our light infantry.
