AUTHENTICITY
Vanguard has a passion for recreating the arms and armour of the period to the highest degree of possible authenticity. Our regular tournament shows, specifically, portray the year 1295, the turn of the century and just prior to the introduction of early plate armour and visored helmets.
However, one of the events Vanguard is most passionate about is the recreation of the Battle of Evesham, 1265. Almost all of the arms and armour used by the combatants in 1265 are also in use in 1295, meaning that this official kit guide for the Evesham reenactment, made by Joshua Ralph, is a perfect resource for those looking to try and start their journey in recreating an authentic 13th century English kit impression.
While we will continue to push the boundaries and raise the bar on authenticity, we will never allow such efforts to overshadow accessibility or even aesthetic. If something is too difficult to achieve or purchase, or simply does not look good to the average audience, we will not use it.
